Language and close-textual analysis
1) Narrative:at the start of the episode the shadow king kills one of his servants and as he does April brandishes swords and then burns the floor which leaves a burn a scorch mark . April is seemed to be very stressed and ram comforts her and takes her to his car in which they have an encounter with her dad she nearly kills him but she stops and he runs away. Then the new had teacher appears out of nowhere and tells them to be om their way. they go home and Ram and April have a session in the bedroom. But since Her and the shadow king are connected he has to do the same with one of his helpers.
Character: April is seen as the hero character type because she goes to the Underneath to fight against the shadow king. Ram and April's loving relationship is developed through Ram being there to comfort April and their sex scene. Charlie and Matteius' relationship is also loving but goes on a rocky side as he dosent tell him the true context of the cabinet.
Iconography: All of the deadly flower petals eating into every living flesh they make contact with and eat it away.
Setting: The episode spans over many settings which enforce the genre of sci fi as The school is one of the main settings we see in this episode and this setting suggests that the show has schools are a standard convention of the genre.
2) The episode starts in equilibrium with students in their lessons, April's heart still getting shared between the shadow king and herself. This equilibrium is disrupted by April's dodgy behaviour at school and well as her crazy confrontation with her dad. This is recognised by the machete that she wields as well as her father dashing away. There is however reparation when her father returns and tries to make amends for his crimes as well as when April heals her mother's from the wheelchair.
3.The hero character type is shown through Charlie or April, as Charlie is being tasked with saving the Earth using the Cabinet of Souls, whereas April is on a quest to retrieve her heart. It could also be argued that miss Quill is the hero as she is attempting to find a solution to the issue of the pettels. The Princess in this episode could be seen as April since she is seemingly rescued by Ram. The villain in this episode is without a shadow of a doubt the shadow king since he directly attempts to stop April from reclaiming her heart, in trying to take it for himself.
4) What enigma and action codes (Barthes) can you find in Co-owner of a Lonely Heart? Make specific, detailed reference to the text using media terminology (e.g. media language - camera shots, diegetic/non-diegetic sound, mise-en-scene etc.)
bit of a dodgy question sir
5) In the shadow kings planet the world seems to be dark and cold with not any sun and seems oddly volcanic which is the complete opposite to earth which is very bright with light and has a vast amount of colours.
Representations
1)The female April is portrayed as a heroic and brave, teenage girl but she is also the protagonist which is not normally the case. Male characters are usually associated with the hero role but the fact that this role is played by a female could potentially change the mindset of gender roles.
2) The representation of age is clearly shown in this episode of Class with Aprils mum mum being so concerned with her and Ram. The representation of teens is also reinforced through April's challenging behaviour toward her mother by getting a bit rowdy and answering back.
3) There is a diversity within the series as there is a balance with all races and BAME being clearly shown
4)Charlie and Matteius have a gay relationship which is accepted by the modern British society and evenin the episodes.
5)Aprils mum is disabled and has to be in a wheelchair but even that dosent stop he from being feared by Ram when he is caught screwing he daughter.

statement of intent
Introduction-For my media coursework, I am aiming to make a Sci-fi TV production called The Unwanted Return. The two minute sequence
that I will produce will be taken from season 1 episode 3. It is based in a
school setting and it is about an alien who is called QZ6 (who is a young black
teenager) hiding on Earth trying to blend in as an ordinary student. He has
taken the form of a school boy wearing typical school uniform. He has gone
rogue from his clan and trying not to get caught by the head of security LM1
(an Eastern-European teenager). It starts straight off with disequilibrium with
The narrative is
that QZ6 who will be in a school class where he gets a phone call which shocks
him as he has never received a phone call before as he has no family or
friends on earth. This will be caught with a close up as it adds a sense of
emotion due to his shock. He leaves the lesson and walks to the end of the
corridor where he answers the call. One example of a prop that will be used will
be his phone. He answers the phone and he is told in a deep and croaky voice
which he finds out it is the head of security back at the motherland that is
called LM1. He will be portraying the antagonist of the extract. Then he
will boot the door open which will create a bang which will make a loud sound
which could be caught with an over the shoulder shot. The shot of LM1 kicking
the door will be a wide shot showing the whole frame which will catch the
movement of the door with LM1 and QZ6 both in the frame. It is acknowledging
that LM1 is making a big impact. This will make the audience fear LM1
automatically as he has entered the story clearly making fell scared and has a
masculine feel about him. This is happening some non-diegetic music will
be added into this part which will make the audience feel that it is an intense
part of the story for the protagonist. After this QZ6 will start to run
away from LM1 after some quick feet that tripped him up running away with
intense music blaring in the background
I plan to meet the brief of a sc-fi production by aiming it for a family audience. This clip meets the family audience genre as it is aimed for the young audience and for adults. The show gives the audience pleasure by the genre of Sci-Fi. It shows them diversion from the real world by showing the aliens which is unearthly. The show may be like by my audience as it is similar to doctor who and Stranger. This is shown when the character LM1 teleport ahead of QZ6 using his superpowers and catches him which is unnatural as teleportation is from sci-fi.
Research: Science Fiction TV drama
doctor who
It communicates with the audience as it makes the scene very creepy with the prop's around the museum and the non diagetic I think the doctor will use his trusty screwdriver to fight off the Dalek.
Amy is shown to the audience as a nice lady who is wholesome and kind and dose not mean any harm. Amy would be playing the sidekick to the doctor who would be the protagonist as he is the one to saves them. It connects with the audience as it is applying certain things like teleportation and time travel to the sci-fi show. The setting is made to be sci-fi with the dark light and the weird cube which creates tension in the scene. They make the room dark which makes it more sci fi with the cube and the alien shows what they are aiming for
humans
It communicates with the audience as it Uses robots and AI which con notates with the sci-fi genre I think that after the robots will take over and run the world
i think it will appeal as they will like the evilness and odd nature of the robots.I believe the robots are seen as the false hero as they are being used to help the humans but really they are trying to take over. The robots are subverting the stereotype as they are seen as evil but here they are helping the humans with life
the mise-en-scene is used with the place where they are bulit with the screws and metal peices. They also use the contacts for the robots so they look less human and more robotic.
